The Spire in the Clouds
Place du Château
Strasbourg in the Middle Ages was marked by the construction of one of the city's iconic monuments, the Cathedral. If it has become a true symbol of Alsace, it is because of its unique architectural features, which are at once graceful and colossal.
Take a moment to look up at the impressive monument in front of you: how did it rise out of the ground and soar towards the sky? Have you ever wondered how this delicate spire that seems to pierce the clouds was built?
The Place du Château provides a perfect setting for such contemplation, with the help of an original structure — a screen reaching into the sky on which you can discover the incredible story of how this "gigantic and delicate marvel"* was built..
The Age of Enlightenment
A 17th century military building, the Vauban Dam is one of Strasbourg's iconic historic monuments. Its use and architectural features evolved over the years and through the city's periods of occupation. The dam, which was once intended to hold off enemy troops, now provides a background for a journey into the Age of Enlightenment.
You will be transported back to this period, a veritable intellectual revolution where knowledge, sciences, and arts created a whirlwind of new thoughts and sensibilities. The Age of Enlightenment comes to life right before your eyes, creating a spectacular fresco of an age of prosperity and prominence for Strasbourg.
The Vauban Dam is seen in a unique way and plays an important role in the panoramic show for which it provides a screen. The artistic creation made of sound and lighting make for a completely immersive experience and a surprising journey through time.
An architectural bond
Place de l'Université
Following the annexation of Alsace-Lorraine in 1871, the German Empire sought to create a new university in Strasbourg. This initiative led to the construction of the entire Neustadt (New Town) district, which is now inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Admire the stunning architecture of the buildings around you and linger on at the sight of the Palais Universitaire. This monument, an important symbol of knowledge, art and science, transports you to a decisive era that forged Strasbourg's identity.
The Palais acts as a backdrop for the larger-than-life show, combining real and virtual elements. The specific ornamental details and different architectural movements will be revealed and highlighted through a one-of-a-kind visual and sound creation.
Be aware that security measures will be implemented. More information to come.
