Cultural summer, "Lire notre monde" reading our world

Explore and enjoy the cultural events of the summer!

During this summer period "Lire notre monde" (Read our world), take time for another cultural break in the green settings and most emblematic places of Strasbourg.

Since April 23rd, Strasbourg has been designated as the UNESCO World Book Capital 2024. Take advantage of this summer to discover numerous artists who delight in sharing their imagination and infinite creativity through dance and circus performances, concerts, readings, balls, and other performances. Each artist evokes in their own way the world of books and reading.

"Kiosque en musique" Music Kiosk

From June 2nd to September 1st, the Music Kiosk in Parc du Contades hosts a musical and artistic ambiance for everyone's enjoyment.

Every Sunday at 5pm, from June 2nd to September 1st, come and enjoy a diverse and rich musical program featuring jazz, classical music, pop, and world music concerts at Parc du Contades, at the foot of the music kiosk.

Every Wednesday at 3:30pm and 5pm, from July 3rd to August 28th, a program for young audiences featuring storytelling, theater, puppetry, clowns, and songs, a true invitation to the imagination of your little ones.

At the 5e Lieu, "Thursdays are for outings!"

Come (re)discover the 5e Lieu and its free permanent exhibition "Un voyage à Strasbourg", as well as its temporary exhibition "Terrain de jeux" by the collective Les Rhubarbus, to relive your childhood during your visit.

This summer, a gentle breeze of surprises invites you to the 5e Lieu on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 7pm! The courtyard transforms into a stage for live performances!

Relax comfortably in lounge chairs for 4 magical moments:

  • July 11: "Le Vieux qui lisait des romans d'amour" by Compagnie Bardaf!
  • July 25: Very young audience show "Point de suspension" by Compagnie Les Imaginoires
  • August 8: Jazz concert with DJIBEN by the trio Railo Helmestter, Francko Mehrstein, and Roland Grob
  • August 22: World music concert by the duo Uzâk

Don't forget the visits and workshops that continue all summer with "Les Rendez-Vous du 5e Lieu".

Exhibition LIVRESQUE 2024

Discover the LIVRESQUE 2024 exhibition, which will animate public spaces in Strasbourg and the municipalities of the Eurometropolis with the strokes and colors of creations by ten artists around their vision of books. Developed in collaboration with Central Vapeur, LIVRESQUE 2024 gathers artworks by Laura Ancona, Aurélien Débat, André Deraine, Marie Dorléans, Célia Housset, Jiyung Jeon, Mathias Martinez, Sarah Ménard, Laurent Moreau, and Jennifer Yerkes in a large open-air exhibition on urban furniture.

To be discovered at tram stations and on urban furniture displays starting from July 4th.

Summer at TAPS

The Théâtre Actuel et Public de Strasbourg (TAPS) is delighted to welcome children and adults alike for a new summer season. Dive into a river, meet a real villain, build imaginary worlds with cubes, embark on a journey to discover the moon, experience exile and friendship, marvel at acrobatics, and laugh at a classical yet burlesque ballet... These are just a few theatrical, circus, and poetic offerings to explore and open up to the world throughout the summer.

Eight shows await you this summer at TAPS Laiterie and TAPS Scala, offering journeys to feed your imagination!

The program

Spectacles for young audiences:

Four shows for children from ages 2-3:

  • On Tuesdays at 10:30 AM and 5:00 PM at TAPS Laiterie,
  • On Wednesdays at 10:30 AM at TAPS Laiterie

Family shows:

Four shows suitable for children from 7-8 years old and for adults:

  • On Thursdays at 7:00 PM at TAPS Scala

The cultural tour of the territories

Come and discover on tour the creations of our fantastic companies specializing in street arts, storytelling, puppetry, young audiences, and theater:

  • the poetic show "Les Glaneuses avec un D" by the company Directo Cinéma
  • the immersive theatrical and costumed experience under a big top with "Monsieur Moulin" by the company Médiane
  • a wonderful storytelling and musical show "Si l'Europe m'était contée" by the company 12:21
  • the basics of culture transformed through imagination and fantastic puppets by Mlle Sauvage with "Les Mythologies de poche"
  • "The Circuit of Nicolette and Aucassin," an extraordinary and participatory carousel
  • The children's show "Pousse Poussette" which celebrates grandparents and their young grandchildren, by the company Atelier mobile.
  • The versatile company OtendemO, with their show "MixSoup" full of humor and fantasy that involves you in spinning a turntable.

In July and August across the neighborhoods of Cronenbourg, Poteries, Hautepierre, Cité Spach/Rotterdam, Neuhof, Meinau, Montagne Verte, Koenigshoffen, Laiterie, and Neudorf.

The early childhood tour of the show "Haut comme trois livres" by Compagnie Médiane

From July 1st to July 20th, near you, in nurseries and Parent-Child Meeting Places (LAPE) throughout Strasbourg (La Robertsau, Neudorf, Koenigshoffen, Hautepierre, Elsau, Esplanade, Center – Gare district...), the show "Haut comme trois livres" ("As Tall as Three Books"), conceived and created by the company Médiane, offers a magical experience around a stack of books accompanied by the enchanting sounds of a harp. Suitable from 9 months old, this show invites touching, expression, ownership, play, and viewing books as everyday objects that enrich and comfort. It's a musical interlude and an original approach to reading.
